The Camp Shalom Units
Your camper will be carefully placed in small groups with two or three
counselors, based on the grade they will be entering in the fall. Activities
are designed based
on the developmental needs of the campers. Ratios
of counselors to campers are
based on age group, with the youngest campers receiving the most supervision.

All camp units have one overnight per session, with the exception of the
Haifa
campers, who are invited to stay for a special dinner and evening
program once
each session.
Jerusalem campers also participate in two off-site day trips each week,
such as
a
high ropes course, baseball games, beaches and nature parks.
They also have one special overnight per session, with
an opportunity to
gain real camping experience at local campgrounds. An additional fee is
already
included in the
Jerusalem tuition
to cover the trip
costs.
CITs (Counselors in Training) get access to an enriching learning experience,
as
they are able to work with different camp units, supplemented by leadership
training, team building and program planning. The program emphasizes Jewish
cultural values such as tikun olam (healing the world and social responsibility),
mitzvot (good deeds) and hesed (compassion). There are limited numbers of
spaces available. CITs may participate in 4- or 8-week sessions.

Jewish Culture
Our goal is to provide a fun experience in a nurturing, Jewish environment
that welcomes campers of all backgrounds. At the core of our program is our
mission of weaving important values such as kindness and generosity into
the fabric of the camp community. Campers learn a Hebrew word of the day,
sing blessings at
mealtime, and welcome the oncoming Sabbath with a special
Oneg Shabbat led
by campers and our Israeli staff. Children can make new
friends, explore new
interests, and learn more about their heritage while
appreciating and strengthening Jewish culture.
