Transportation

Free bus transportation is provided, with either door-to-door service or a convenient, centralized pick-up/drop-off location. There is also non-stop express service from the Mandell JCC in West Hartford. A bus counselor is assigned to each bus to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride.

Food Service

No need to pack a lunch, as Camp Shalom offers campers balanced and
nutritious meals which are kosher (prepared under the supervision of the
Hartford Kashrut Commission). Fridays are camp cookouts, and snacks are
distributed before boarding the buses daily. Most dietary needs are
accommodated.

Health & Safety

A healthy camper is a happy camper, and our registered nurse is always on
site. We adhere to the highest safety standards set by state/local health
agencies. Camp Shalom is a member of the Connecticut Camping Association.

Before/After Care

Supervised activities are available at the Mandell JCC beginning at 7:30 a.m.
and after camp until 5:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per morning or afternoon. Space is
limited, so please register when you receive the form.

Hand-in-Hand and Learning Hut

Special needs campers can receive one-on-one attention as part of our
Hand-in-Hand program. The Learning Hut provides campers with learning
disabilities the opportunity to participate in camp while receiving individual
tutoring to retain skills/knowledge throughout the summer. Contact
Karen Wyckoff for information.
